About The Artist -
Suzanne Villeneuve
In 2009, a friend invited me to join them on a weekend painting retreat in Dunedin. Having not painted since primary school art class, along with some very basic equipment and a bottle of wine, I packed low expectations. It was an unexpected delight to find myself in a conversation of sorts with the canvas – between the image I have in my head, and what I am able to translate through brush stroke or palette knife. And so my painting journey began.
Over the next few years, I tried to learn more - read books, attended art classes, but mostly…..painted! Following a move to Muskoka in 2016, the surrounding landscape has become a significant inspiration in what I paint - well, that and food :). I am moved by quiet moments, ways in, the magic of light, and pretty much anything red :).
I have sold privately, exhibited at the Women’s Art Association of Canada in Toronto, and at the Baysville Arts and Crafts Festival, held annually, the second weekend in August.
